Walkathon rules
Official step counting
- All Walkathon steps will be recorded through the dedicated Walkathon application provided by AMIT Retail LLC.
- The step count recorded by the official application is the only count that will be recognized for the event.
- Steps shown on personal smartwatches, phones, fitness trackers, health apps, screenshots, or any other device or source will not be accepted as an alternative count.
- Only steps recorded during the participant's assigned 45-minute heat and while the participant remains within the official venue boundary will count toward the official result.
- The step total recorded by the official application at the end of the heat will be treated as final. Requests to replace, add, recalculate, or dispute the recorded total using another device or manual evidence will not be accepted.
- Participants are responsible for ensuring that the official application is ready for use and that any required permissions or settings are enabled before their heat begins.
1. Heat allocation
- Every participant will be assigned to one specific heat during registration.
- Participants may participate only in their assigned heat.
- A participant cannot register for or participate in more than one heat, whether on the same day or across both event days.
- Heat transfers or changes may be restricted once the schedule is finalized.
2. Mandatory check-in
- Participants must check in 30 minutes before their scheduled heat begins.
- Participants who arrive late may lose their allocated slot and may not be moved to another heat.
- Participants must present their registration confirmation at check-in.
- Participants should ensure the official Walkathon application is ready and operational before their heat starts.
3. Walkathon area and venue boundary
- The Walkathon takes place throughout the venue, including designated parking areas.
- The official Walkathon boundary is defined by the venue walls and perimeter.
- Once a participant's heat begins, they must remain within the venue boundary for the entire duration of the heat.
- Going outside the venue boundary at any point during the active heat will result in automatic disqualification.
- Participants may move freely within permitted Walkathon areas inside the venue, subject to restricted or operational zones identified by event officials.
4. Heat timing and start
- Each heat lasts 45 minutes.
- There is no designated starting line.
- When the participant's scheduled heat time begins, the Walkathon starts from wherever the participant is located within the permitted venue area.
- Participants are responsible for being checked in and inside the permitted venue area before their heat begins.
- Only steps recorded by the official application during the assigned heat window will count.
5. Participant capacity
- Each heat has a fixed participant capacity.
- Registration is available only while slots remain for the respective heat.
- Once a heat reaches capacity, participants must select another available heat.
- Walk-in participation may be permitted only where capacity is available and subject to event team approval.
6. Registration buffer
- Additional registration slots may be opened above the operational participant target to account for anticipated no-shows.
- A registration slot does not permit participation in a different heat from the participant's assigned heat.
- Final participation remains subject to successful check-in and compliance with event requirements.
7. Participant identification
- Registrations are non-transferable.
- Participants may not give or transfer their registration to another person.
- Any participant attempting to participate using another person's registration may be disqualified.
8. During the heat
- Participants may begin walking from wherever they are located within the permitted Walkathon area when their scheduled heat starts.
- Participants must remain within the venue boundary throughout the full heat duration.
- Participants must comply with directions from event officials, marshals, security personnel, and venue staff.
- Restricted, staff-only, unsafe, or operational areas must not be entered.
9. Route and movement
- The Walkathon uses permitted areas across the venue rather than a conventional single start-to-finish route.
- Participants may move through designated Walkathon areas, including approved parking areas.
- Participants must not exit through venue gates or cross beyond the defined venue perimeter during their heat.
- Any temporary route restrictions or closed areas communicated by officials must be respected.
10. Completion and official result
- A participant's heat ends when the scheduled 45-minute period is completed.
- The official application step total recorded at the end of the heat will be used as the participant's final Walkathon count.
- Steps completed before the heat begins or after the heat ends will not be included in the official result.
- Participation or walking outside the assigned heat period will not count toward the participant's official Walkathon result.
- Participants must follow any instructions communicated by the event team once their heat has ended.
11. Step count verification and finality
- The AMIT Retail LLC Walkathon application is the official system of record for step counting.
- Personal device readings, screenshots, videos, manual counts, third-party applications, or other supporting evidence will not override the official application count.
- The official recorded step total is final for ranking, recognition, prizes, results, or any other Walkathon determination.
- Participants may not request a recount or adjustment based on differences between the official application and another device or platform.
- Any deliberate attempt to manipulate, interfere with, falsify, or artificially increase the recorded step count may result in immediate disqualification.
12. Safety and conduct
- Participants must behave responsibly and respectfully toward other participants, volunteers, officials, security personnel, and venue staff.
- Pushing, deliberately obstructing others, unsafe movement, or disruptive behaviour is prohibited.
- Participants must comply immediately with safety or emergency instructions.
- Event officials may stop or disqualify any participant whose behaviour creates a safety risk.
13. Children
- Children aged 5 years and above may participate in the Walkathon.
- Children must be registered for the event and assigned to a valid heat.
- Appropriate parental or guardian supervision should be maintained where required.
14. Personal belongings
- Participants are responsible for their own belongings.
- Personal items should be kept only in permitted or designated areas.
- Unattended belongings must not obstruct Walkathon areas, entrances, exits, or emergency routes.
15. Medical and emergency situations
- Participants who feel unwell or require assistance must immediately contact an event marshal, official, or medical team member.
- Medical personnel may stop a participant from continuing where there is a safety concern.
- During emergencies, all participants must follow instructions from event and venue personnel.
16. Operational changes
- Heat timings, capacities, permitted Walkathon areas, or operational procedures may be adjusted when required due to safety, venue operations, crowd management, or circumstances beyond the organizers' control.
- Participants must follow the latest instructions communicated by the event team.
17. Automatic disqualification
- Participating or attempting to participate in more than one heat.
- Participating on both days under separate heat registrations.
- Exiting the venue boundary during the active heat.
- Attempting to re-enter after leaving the venue during the active heat.
- Using or transferring another participant's registration.
- Participating in a heat other than the one assigned.
- Failing to complete the required check-in.
- Entering restricted or prohibited areas.
- Ignoring instructions from officials, marshals, security, or venue staff.
- Manipulating or attempting to manipulate the official step-recording process or application.
- Unsafe, disruptive, abusive, or unsportsmanlike behaviour.
- Missing an assigned heat does not automatically allow a participant to join another heat. Any reassignment is subject to availability and approval by the event team.
